Mohamud is an economist with over 20 years of experience in the development industry, public sector and research in the UK, and several years more recently in the Horn of Africa region. When working in the food industry, he managed commercial projects that developed products and services targeted at new markets. In the public sector, Mohamud effectively evaluated the impact of public interventions across a wide range of programs including uptake of new agricultural technologies, business impact and response to new regulations, and return to investments. His research skills and expertise include econometric analysis of food demand and economic modelling of regulation.

Dr. Hussein has worked with UN agencies, the World Bank, and the European Union. He has also authored numerous reports, co-authored two book chapters and published research articles in leading academic journals, including Food Policy, the Journal of Agricultural Economics, and the Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics. Mohamud has a laurea degree in Agricultural Sciences with Economics (University of Perugia), an MSc in Agricultural Economics (Imperial College London) and a PhD in Agri-Environmental Economics (University of Kent)

Ahmed is an external consultant providing analytical input into and advice on analysis of household resilience and vulnerability. His expertise includes analysis of consumer survey datasets using methods such as driver analysis, segmentation, and optimization algorithms to derive actionable insights for decision-making in business and policymaking.

 Ahmed has vast experience with the statistical package R which he uses for data manipulation, visualization, and the application of statistical and machine learning models.  Ahmed has a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Statistics from Queen Mary University of London and a Masters in Statistics from University College London.

Khalid is a Research Officer with a focus on quantitative methods for economic valuation methods for assessment of ecosystem services and energy. He received MSc in Development Economics at Ambo University, Ethiopia and a BSc in Economics and Political Science at the University of Hargeisa, Somaliland. His research interests include political economy and economic growth and development. Khalid has experience in the analysis of large datasets using STATA and SPSS.

Ahmed is a Research Officer working on the analysis of food demand using household surveys. He was a MasterCard Foundation Graduate Scholar in 2016 and holds a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences with a focus on Development Economics from Quest University Canada. Ahmed is currently pursuing Micro Master’s in Data, Economics, and Development at MITx MicroMasters Program.
